    Actually looks pretty similar, right?

Edit: actually, that hole over water is great. Looking at the stadium, too?

  3. Engineering_Simple

Very cool how they rotated it 7deg clockwise… or is that natural from the earth spinning for all this time?

  4. Looks better in green, Trees grew nicely. Reminds me of a story: An old man got paired with a strong young man. The younger guy’s ball landed in front of a tall tree blocking the green, he was about to tap it to the side, when the old timer said, when I was your age, my ball landed there, and I used my wedge to go over that tree. The young guy thought he was strong, so he took out his lob wedge, and had the ball bounce back at his feet. Then the old golfer said, of course, when I was your age, this tree was only 10 feet tall.

Is that a giant toilet in the upper left of the frame?

Worst golf course in the Big 10

  7. thesundancekidz

18 with just the creek would be so much better. Still proud to call it my home course.

  8. FailedLoser21

Fuck your football team really does play in a hole in the ground.

I worked grounds there for two years in college; we walk mowed greens and tees and got those things rolling fast. I remember mowing greens, still tripping from acid at 6 am; regardless, that was college, and my lines were always straight.
The 9th Fairway used to be guarded on the right by Buckeye Trees (my tailgate crew chose the ugliest, weakest one as our football, gameday tailgate spot). Good times.

Absolutely beautiful with the football stadium in the back

Your clubs members are probably plotting to cut down all those trees to return it to the original links design…

  12. IronRhiley

This is what I imagine when these old courses have the 18 handicap hole that’s now littered with trees everywhere and plays somewhere near the top because they don’t want to cut down the trees blocking 1/4 of shots

  13. BankImpressive

I just played there for the first time last week…fun course.

  14. Frequilibrium

Crazy they had drones that could fly that high back then

  15. marlboro__man9

The par 3 in the lower left hand quadrant looked 100000x better in the original.

  16. OutrageConnoisseur

My only takeaway is it’s super cool to see how built into the ground the Big House is.

Playing field has to be 30ft or so beneath the surface. Neat.

Imagine showing up to that course with modern equipment. I’d still play poorly, but imagine playing in those conditions.

Where *were* the yardages on PGA courses 100 yards ago? How long have they grown?

  18. Fourteen_Sticks

Is this in East Lansing, MI?

  19. Mcpops1618

Big house looks sweet just one bowl in the ground.

  20. jonesyman23

Lots of cheaters on that course.

  21. My home course too, love playing here. I wish those trees on 3 and next to the 4th tee box didn’t exist though…great spot to tailgate as well!

  22. LinksGems

Man, those gorgeous MacKenzie bunkers in the original are just perfection.

  23. AdvocatusAvem

All that time and the green side bunker on the lower right hole still has the little island of grass.

And the dogleg left right after… inside the dog leg I wonder if that is the same tree (seems plausible that it’s a roughly 100 year old tree now and new then)

    Cool!

  24. Vegas22lr

Hopefully they don’t “restore” it and rip all the trees out.

  25. IHeartFraccing

I once drank 11 beers and pissed in a bunker on your home course before a football game.

  26. FrankieBeanSniffer

    Looks like a gay area… O-H!

  27. a_Food_lover

Cut down the trees!! Return it to its former glory!!! /s

  28. The_Smoking_Pilot
